Lithuania: Updated Economic Activity Classification Requirements

Lithuania

From 1 January 2025, Lithuania introduced an updated version of the Classification of Economic Activities (EVRK Rev.2.1), aligned with the EU NACE Rev.2.1 framework. The State Data Agency updated activity codes in statistical and business registers automatically. Organisations that report or register an economic activity in Lithuania must ensure that the revised code accurately reflects their principal activity. This applies to both legal entities and individuals carrying out business activities. There is no recurring filing requirement, and updates are only needed if the principal activity changes or if requested by an authority.

Key changes and requirements

The updated EVRK Rev.2.1 modernises activity codes and titles to reflect economic developments. Organisations must review their current classification and map it to the new EVRK Rev.2.1 coding. If the automatically assigned code matches their actual activity, no amendments to the Articles of Association or public register information are required. However, if an organisation chooses to amend its Articles of Association because an EVRK code is expressly included, a shareholder meeting is needed to approve the change, and the update must be filed with the Register of Legal Entities. Updates may also be required with the State Tax Authority and for any licences or permits that reference EVRK classifications.

There are no new penalties specific to the EVRK revision. However, incorrect classifications may result in requests for correction and may affect statistical reporting, eligibility for support schemes or processing of sector‑specific permits.
