Sweden: Introduction of New SNI 2025 Codes

Sweden

The Swedish Central Bureau of Statistics (SCB) has issued updated national industry classification codes (SNI 2025) to align with the European Union’s revised NACE codes. Entities currently registered under affected SNI 2007 classifications must assess whether their existing codes remain accurate under the new framework. Companies identified as impacted must update their SNI code through the verksamt.se portal. The final date to complete the update is 21 November 2025. If an entity does not submit an update, SCB will reassign the code based on the company’s annual report and its stated business activities. No penalties or administrative fees are imposed for non-compliance.

Key changes and requirements

The changes introduce SNI 2025 codes that replace several existing SNI 2007 classifications. A list of impacted SNI 2007 codes and a comparison between SNI 2007 and SNI 2025 appears in the referenced “Impacted SNI 2007-codes” and “Comparison – SNI2007–SNI2025” materials. Companies whose primary activities fall within the affected classifications must evaluate their correct economic activity and update their records accordingly.

If a company does not act, SCB will independently update the code based on available information. Although there are no formal sanctions, the company may risk being assigned an inaccurate activity code.
